Frequently asked questions

How long is a session and how often will we meet?

I offer counselling sessions of 60 minutes and I can be flexible about how often we meet although it would not be more than once per week. Sometimes a longer session may be appropriate and we will agree this in advance as needed.

Coaching sessions often require a longer appointment of 90 minutes.

How much do you charge and how do I pay?

I charge £60 for individuals for each 60 minute session. I will ask you to pay for each session as we meet and I accept payment by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

Some concessions may be available and I am happy to discuss these.

Do you work with children and young adults?

I am not qualified to work with children, but I enjoy working with young adults who are 18 years old and over. I have completed online MindEd training to add to my professional training and experience in this area. For more information visit the MindEd website.

Do you offer an introductory session?

For individuals looking for counselling or coaching I offer you the option of a short introductory meeting of up to 30 minutes free of charge. At our first meeting we will talk about what has brought you to seek counselling or coaching and you will be able to ask me questions before we decide to continue to work together.

How soon will I be able to start?

Once we decide to meet I will try to find a day and time that is mutually agreeable as soon as possible, usually within a week.

Do you have a waiting list?

I do not operate a waiting list and if we cannot find a mutually agreeable time to meet I will try to help you find another counsellor or coach.

Where will we meet?

When we agree to meet I will give you directions to my consulting address and information about parking if needed.

What sort of access will I have at the consulting address?

There is a step at the front door and my consulting room is on the ground floor.

Will there be any pets at your consulting address?

No, I do not have a dog, cat or any other pets.

What information do you ask me for?

I will ask you to sign a personal record sheet which gives me your contact details. I will ask you for your consent to store your contact details and any temporary records of our meetings.
